2006: Played in just five games, being inactive eight straight games following the season opener and the final three games of the season. Finished the year with 18 carries for 99 yards and one touchdown while catching three passes for 19 yards. Was de-activated for eight weeks straight following a big performance from Artose Pinner in Week 2 vs. Detroit. Got his only real chance to play Dec. 3 vs. the Bears when he rushed 11 times for a career-best 75 yards and a touchdown in relief of an injured Chester Taylor.
2005: Used primarily as the Vikings’ short-yardage back, Fason carried 32 times for 62 yards and four touchdowns. After not having any carries in the first six games, he had at least one in the final nine games, scoring touchdowns vs. the Lions, Packers, Rams and Bears. Set career highs vs. the Rams Dec. 11 with six carries for 19 yards.
College: Played in every game during his college career, earning 15 starts. He became the first Florida runner to lead the Southeastern Conference in rushing since 1993 and is also only the seventh player in school history to rush for over 1,000 yards in a season. Social and Behavioral Sciences major.
High School: Gained consensus All-America recognition in 2001 from Parade, Prep Star and SuperPrep. National Bluechips, SuperPrep and Prep Star rated him one of the two top running backs in the country. Also earned prestigious Class 5A Mr. Football in Florida honors and was a four-time team MVP. Rushed for over 7,400 career yards and completed his career as the state of Florida's fifth all-time leading rusher and tops in Northeast Florida history. He rushed for over 2,000 yards twice.
Personal: Fason is married with a son and a daughter. Entered the draft early out of Florida because, to support his family in college, his wife Yolanda held down two jobs in addition to be a full-time student. He majored in social and behavioral sciences in college.
