Biography:
PRO CAREER: Veteran offensive tackle has helped pave way for a 1,000-yard rusher in 7 of the last 8 seasons… Part of Bears offensive line that allowed just 25 sacks in 2006, tied for 6th in the NFL… Has started 145 of last 146 games played, which includes 12 postseason contests… Has started 149 of 171 career regular games in 11 NFL seasons including all 16 in a season on 7 occasions and at least 15 contests in 9 straight seasons… Has competed in the postseason in 6 of his 11 NFL seasons, posting a 7-5 career record in 12 career playoff starts, including helping St. Louis win Super Bowl XXXIV… His 12 postseason starts are the most among active Bears… Chicago’s offense has totaled 4,017 rushing yards (10th in the NFL) and allowed 56 sacks (6th in NFL) since his arrival in 2005… Tennessee QBs threw for over 3,000 yards in each of his final 4 campaigns with the team… Only Titans O-lineman to start all 80 regular-season games from 2000-04… Initially became an NFL starter at left guard for St. Louis in 1998 before moving to right tackle in 1999 during the Rams Super Bowl season.

CAREER TRANSACTIONS: Entered NFL as a fifth-round selection (141st overall) by St. Louis in the 1996 NFL Draft… Signed three-year contract with Rams (7/15/96)… Received qualifying offer from St. Louis (2/11/99) and re-signed as a restricted free agent with Rams (6/1/99)… Contract expired with St. Louis (2/10/00) and signed as an unrestricted free agent with Tennessee (2/23/00)… Released by Titans (2/22/05)… Signed by Chicago to a 5-year contract (3/8/05). PERSONAL NOTES: Named All-Greater Houston for the Eagles of Eisenhower H.S. in Aldine, TX… Heavily involved in community relations work, devotes much of his time, money and effort to the Nurses for Newborns Foundation (nursesfornewborns.org) with his wife, Kim, who serves as the charity's regional director. The organization is designed to help prevent infant mortality, child abuse and neglect through home based programs that provide education, healthcare and positive parenting skills. He and his wife began their work with the foundation during their time in St. Louis, and on August 15, 2001, made one of the largest single charitable financial donations in NFL history, giving over $1 million to fund the program in Nashville. Since then, the charity's reach has broadened, reaching several counties across Tennessee with hopes of expanding even further… Born Fred J. Miller Jr., Feb. 6, 1973, in Houston, TX, he and his wife, Kim, have two sons Grant and Evan… Participated in the NFL's Punt, Pass and Kick Competition as a child… An avid deer and wild turkey hunter, his prize catches include a 12-point deer and a 22-pound turkey with 1½-inch spurs and a 10-inch beard.
