The Vikings made Vinny Ciurciu one of their first free agent signees in the 2007 free-agent season. He comes to the Vikings as an elite special teams player and part-time middle linebacker. He is reunited with special teams coach Paul Ferraro, who coached Circiu on special teams with the Panthers in 2005.
Ciurciu comes to the Vikings being expected to be a top special teams performer and situational linebacker when called upon.

2006: Played in all 16 games for Carolina, registering 18 tackles (11 solo). Was one of the Panthers top special teams players once again, leading them with 19 special teams tackles.
2005: Played in 15 games for Carolina with one start. Finished second on the team with 14 special teams tackles to go along with six tackles on the Panthers defense. Got his only start of the year at weakside linebacker in place of Will Witherspoon vs. Miami (Sept. 25).
2004: Played in all 16 games, including four starts at middle linebacker in place of injured Dan Morgan at midseason. He registered a career-high 33 tackles – 25 of them solo tackles. Added nine tackles on special teams. In three of his four starts, he had seven or more tackles – 10 vs. Seattle (Oct. 31), seven vs. Oakland (Nov. 7) and nine vs. Tampa Bay (Nov. 28).
2003: Signed as an undrafted rookie May 3. Was waived among the final preseason cuts, but re-signed Sept. 2 and assigned to the practice squad. Claimed off the practice squad by Tampa Bay Oct. 8, where he played was on the active roster for eight games. Was released by the Buccaneers on Dec. 2 and re-signed by the Panthers on Dec. 5. Was active three games of the regular season and four games in the post-season. Had seven special teams tackles in the regular season and three in the postseason.
College: Initially enrolled at Clemson playing fullback, but transferred to Boston College, where he was switched to linebacker. In his two years at Clemson, he played in 23 games with one start, rushing the ball 30 times for 104 yards and catching four passes for 22 yards and one touchdown. As a junior at B.C., he led the team with 87 tackles and added two interceptions. As a senior, he finished second on the team with 102 tackles, as well as one interception and two forced fumbles. Graduated with a degree in marketing.
Personal: Has been active in the community. Worked with the United Way while with the Panthers to refurbish a playground and upgrade the education room at the Uptown YMCA in Charlotte. Was a two-time all-state linebacker in New Jersey at St. Joseph Regional High School. Was also a solid running back in high school, rushing for 1,260 yards and 25 touchdowns as a senior. Single.
