Drafted by the Vikings in the seventh round of the 2007 NFL Draft, Williams might have to secure a return role in order to make the active roster.
Predraft Analysis: A consistent performer the past three years, Williams offers possibilities as a fifth wideout yet must produce on special teams to have an NFL career. Two-year starter who led the team in receiving as a senior when he was an All-Conference choice. Totals last season included 67/664/1, when he also averaged 21.5 yards on 4 punt returns. Junior receiving numbers 61/870/2.
Pos: Fluid pass-catcher who flashes abilities as a return specialist. Quickly releases off the line, displays sharpness running routes and comes back to the ball out of breaks. Nicely uses the sidelines and immediately transitions from making the catch to running after the reception. Extends his hands offering the quarterback a nice target and plucks the pass from the air.
Neg: Not a big, strong, sturdy wide out. Lacks the deep speed.
