PRO CAREER: The seven-year veteran enters the 2007 season tied for fifth among defensive tackles with 26.5 sacks since 2002…Walker had been a fixture on the Eagles defensive line since 2002, starting at least 12 contests for the club from 2002 to 2006…The Tennessee product immediately made an impact by recording a career-high 7.5 sacks in his first season as the Eagles starting DT in 2002…Walker has tallied 264 tackles during his seven years of NFL service, including a career-high 14 tackles vs. DAL (12/7/03)…Brings big game experience to the club having appeared in 12 playoff games during his career, including Super Bowl XXXIX.
CAREER TRANSACTIONS: Originally drafted in the 3rd round (71st overall) of the 2000 draft by the Arizona Cardinals…Released by Arizona (9/9/00)…Claimed of waivers by the Eagles (9/12/00)…Traded from the Eagles to the Buffalo Bills (3/26/07)…Traded from the Bills to the Bears (7/29/07).
PERSONAL: Though injuries limited Walker’s senior season at Walterboro High School (Walterboro, SC), he was still an All-America selection at both linebacker and fullback…Also competed in track and field during high school, earning three state titles in shot put and discus events…Earned a civil engineering degree from the University of Tennessee and co-founded Progressive Engineering, a civil and structural engineering firm in Knoxville, TN…In the spring of 2005, Walker became part owner and Vice President/Chief Development Officer of Pennoni Assocaites, Inc., and Engineering News Record Top 100 consulting engineering firm…In May of 2005, Walker donated $15,000 from the Darwin Walker Foundation to the two schools he attended while growing up in Walterboro, SC, Black Street Elementarty School and Colleton County High School, previously Walterboro High School…Has a personal website, http://www.darwinwalker.com, which bears the slogan "Engineered to Sack." |
