| Exciting runner with the speed to get the corner & outrun the pursuit angle. Liked his take off, vision & ability to plant & go. Shows multiple cutting skills. Has good hands & was dangerous in space. Liked his bouncy legs & ability break secured tackles. Not a lot of thread off the tires having been a back up throughout his college career. Whether he can become a feature back is still an unknown factor, but I like what I've seen to this point. |

Marino's Take:
The Running Backs 2006: Despite sharing the backfield and carries with Doak Walker Award winner and Heisman Trophy runner-up Darren McFadden, Jones posted a spectacular season at tailback. He played in all 14 games earning a starting nod in six contests, including two starts at tailback and four starts at wide receiver. He was named with McFadden to the CollegeFootballNews.com and Scout.com first-team All-SEC squads at running back. Jones was a second-team All-SEC selection by The Associated Press and SEC Coaches at both running back, all-purpose back (AP) and return specialist (SEC Coaches). CollegeFootballNews.com also named him an honorable mention sophomore All-American after Jones became only the eighth UA running back in school history to rush for more than 1,000 yards when he earned 1,168 yards on 154 carries. His total ranked as the seventh-best single-season rushing total in UA history and one of 12 1,000-yard rushing campaigns in Razorback history. Jones finished second in the SEC in rushing (83.43 yards per game) and joined McFadden as the only two backs to earn 1,000 yards rushing on the season. His total of 1,829 all-purpose yardage broke the previous UA record and ranked second on the UA single-season list only to McFadden’s (2,058 yards) in the same season. He led the Razorbacks, ranked third in the SEC and 32nd in the nation with an average of 24.1 yards per kickoff return. He returned 23 kickoffs for 554 yards and one touchdown. His 554 kickoff return yardage total ranked second on the UA season record list while his 23 returns ranked tied for third.
2005: With a brilliant season as a kickoff returner and a reserve tailback, he managed to accomplish something that no other Razorback freshman had accomplished in the history of Arkansas football. He became the first freshman in school history to earn first-team All-America honors. He finished second in the nation with a 31.9-yard kickoff return average, racking up 543 yards and one touchdown on 17 returns. His average was tops in the NCAA after regular season play, was more than six-yards better than his nearest rival in the SEC statistical rankings and almost seven yards better than the previous school record. His 543 total kickoff return yards were the second-most in a single season in school history. As a tailback, he rushed for 626 yards and three touchdowns on 99 attempts. He ranked second on the team and 10th in the SEC in rushing with an average of 56.9 yards per game.
High School: He was named the Tulsa World Player of the Year following his senior season after rushing for 2,282 yards and 48 touchdowns on 205 carries. He averaged 11.1 yards per carry for Coach Antwain Jimmerson. He led his squad to a 13-1 record and a state runner-up finish. He rushed for 166 yards and three touchdowns in the 5A state championship game. He sustained a broken ankle early in his junior season, but still managed to rack up 800 yards rushing and 20 touchdowns. Rivals.com ranked him as the No. 19 athlete in the nation and the No. 4 overall player in Oklahoma. In addition to Arkansas, he was recruited by Tennessee, Texas A&M, Kansas, LSU, Oklahoma State and Nebraska.
