Contract Status: Vikings Contract Chart

Career Stats: FoxSports.com Player Page

Injury History: Had knee surgery following the 2005 season to repair a torn ACL, but return in time for the start of the 2006 season.

2007: Had a career-best 44.7-yard gross punting average and a 37.0 net while setting a Vikings record (and ranking third in the NFL) with 34 punts inside the 20-yard line after extensive work on his directional punting. Set another franchise mark with 25 punts of at least 50 yards. On 81 punts for 3,621 yards, he had nine touchbacks and long punt of 70 yards.

2006: Kluwe allayed fears that he might not be 100 percent after knee surgery after the 2005 season, easily winning his job back in 2006. He had 93 punts for 3,934 yards (a 42.3 yard average). He tied a team record with 28 punts that were put down inside the 20-yard line. For the second straight year, he didn’t have a punt blocked.

2005: Was a surprise pickup when the Vikings gave up on veteran punter Darren Bennett. Spent training camp with Seattle – one of the Vikings’ preseason opponents – and made an impression on the Vikings staff with the hang time on his punts. Didn’t disappoint, averaging 44.1 yards per punt, pinning opponents inside the 20-yard line 17 times and had only six touchbacks.

College: Was one of three finalists for the Ray Guy Award (given to the nation’s top punter) as a senior at UCLA. As a junior, he set a school record for punts (91) and punting yardage (3,908) while averaging 42.9 yards per kick.

Personal: Was a first-team High School All-America punter as named by USA Today. As a high school senior, kicked a 60-yard field goal and played in the California-Texas High School All-Star Game and CaliFlorida Bowl. He and his wife Isabel live in Eden Prairie.
