Acquired in one of the franchise’s biggest free-agent trades from the Kansas City Chiefs, Allen is expected to dramatically improve the Vikings’ pass rush from the defensive line in 2008.
Allen comes to the Vikings as the league’s reigning leader in sacks (17.5) and second in the league over the last four years (43.5).
How Acquired: In an offseason trade in which the Vikings gave the Kansas City Chiefs a first-round pick and two third-round picks, along with swapping picks in the sixth round in 2008, in order to acquired the previously franchised player.

2007: Despite missing the first two games due to a league-imposed suspension for violating the Players Code of Conduct after his second DUI arrest, Allen came back to record a league-high 15.5 sacks for a 4-12 Chiefs team. He also added 64 tackles and 10 passes defensed.
2006: Led the league in quarterback pressures, but managed only 7.5 sacks, the lowest output of his career. Added 77 tackles, 10 passes defensed and the only interception of his career. In retrospect, Allen said he just wasn’t finishing plays to garner double-digit sacks in 2006.
2005: Speedy edge rusher played in all 16 games and led the Chiefs in sacks for the second consecutive year with 11. Also contributed 58 tackles (4.5 for loss) and five passes defensed, leading all Chiefs defensive linemen in both categories. Tied for the NFL lead in forced fumbles with seven on the season. Won NFL Defensive Player of the Week after his dominating performance against the Washington Redskins, recording three sacks and forcing two fumbles.
2004: Fourth-rounder from Idaho State surprised many by supplanting veteran Vonnie Holliday in the starting lineup by week seven. Led the team in sacks with nine and added 31 tackles, four for loss. Also led all NFL rookies in sacks. Won the Chiefs Mack Lee Hill award as the team’s top rookie and was named to Pro Football Weekly’s All-Rookie Team.
College: Amassed 38.5 career sacks in 41 games at Idaho State. Set the single-season school record with 17.5 sacks in 2003.
