How Acquired: Signed as an undrafted free agent following the 2004 NFL draft.
Injury History: Suffered a leg infection during the 2005 preseason, but was on the team to start the regular season. He was inactive for six games in 2005, but they weren't deemed to be directly related to injuries.
Contract Status: Vikings Contract Chart
Career Stats: FoxSports.com Player Page
2008: Was part of the interior offensive line, along with Steve Hutchinson and Matt Birk, that started every game in 2008. Herrera started all 17 games at right guard. Helped Adrian Peterson become the first Vikings running back to lead the NFL in rushing.
2007: Signed a five-year contract extension that could be worth as much as $15 million, including $5 million in guarantees. Played a big role in the Vikings’ No. 1 rushing attack and helped pave the way for the franchise record with 2,634 rushing yards and record-tying eight games with a 100-yard rusher. Played in 16 games, starting 12. Started his first game of the year at Adrian Peterson’s then-franchise-record 224-yard rushing performance against Chicago, which was later eclipsed by Peterson’s 296-yard effort against San Diego.
2006: Played in just two games in 2006. After limiting special teams action in the season opener vs. Washington, he was inactive for the next nine games. After playing briefly against the Cardinals, he was dressed but did not play vs. Chicago and was de-activated for the final three games of the season.
2005: Played in 10 games, starting the final six games of the regular season at left guard – replacing previous starter Toniu Fonoti and retaining the job until the end of the season.
2004: Spent the first nine weeks of the season on the practice squad after working at guard and center in the preseason. Was inactive for seven games.
College: Made 36 starts, and played both guard spots and left tackle. Inconsistent, but dominant at times. Probably would have been drafted except for some off-field concerns. Earned an economics degree from the University of Tennessee.
