How Acquired: Signed a six-year, $33 million free-agent contract with the Vikings on March 1, 2008.
Injury History: Missed 12 games in 2005 with a shoulder injury that required surgery during the season. Missed three games in 2007 with a quadriceps injury and was eventually placed on injured reserve. Missed the first seven games in 2008 with a neck injury.
2008: Missed the first seven games of the season with a neck injury suffered in training camp. Started the final nine games opposite Darren Sharper. Finished the season with 45 tackles (34 solo), two interceptions, three passes defensed and one QB hurry. Intercepted then-Texans QB Sage Rosenfels in Williams’ first start with the Vikings and led the team with nine tackles in that game.
2007: Started and played in 13 games, registering 74 tackles, two sacks, two interceptions and seven passes defensed in his final year with the Bengals.
2006: Played and started in all 16 games. Had 88 tackles, three interceptions and 10 passes defensed. Led the Bengals with 1,265 snaps played, of which 1,052 were on defense (98.7 percent of the defensive plays).
2005: Missed two games with a shoulder injury after starting the first three. Played in one more game before re-aggravating the injury and having season-ending surgery in October. In four games, had 23 tackles, four passes defensed and one interception.
2004: A second-round draft choice (56th overall) of the Bengals, started 13 of 16 games played at free safety, strong safety and cornerback, registering a career-high 103 tackles. Also had seven passes defensed, three interceptions and two sacks.
College: Walked on to Maryland for his final two seasons of eligibility after two years at Towson University. Started all 27 games during his time with the Terrapins, helping them to 11-3 and 10-3 records. Graduated with a family studies degree.
Personal: Moved to Lanham, Md., at age 9 after being born and living in Sierra Leone, West Africa. Played football, baseball and track in high school.
