| Biography: |
Running back James Wofford signed with the Vikings in 2001 but didn’t make the team. That changed in 2002, as he impressed the revised coaching staff in early camps and made the 53-man roster.
Although he played fullback at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas, Wofford is a smaller NFL running back with good moves and vision.
2002: Played in nine games on special teams and was inactive for six games. Returned three kickoffs and made one special teams tackle.
2001: Was talked about highly in spring and summer camps but was released at the end of training camp. Returned to Las Vegas and sold cars.
College: Even though he was converted from tailback to fullback in college and was blocking for a bigger running back than himself, Wofford still managed to end his career as the sixth-ranked player on the school’s all-time rushing chart with 1,861 yards. He averaged 6.1 yards per rush in his senior year but only carried the ball 31 times. After starting every game at tailback in 1998 and gaining 816 yards, he was converted to fullback for his junior season. He started seven games his freshman year.
