Biography:
After eight seasons in the NFL, in 2002 Derrick Alexander came to a team that already has a superstar wide receiver to pair with him. The Vikings and Alexander didn’t capitalize on the marriage in 2002 but will try to take advantage of Alexander and Randy Moss’ speed on the outside and make opposing defenses choose their poison.

2002: Battled minor injures during the early part of the season before being placed on injured reserve on Nov. 6. Played in eight games, starting five, finishing with only 14 catches for 134 yards.

2001: Played in 13 games for Kansas City, starting 11. Missed some time with an Achilles tendon injury. Had 27 catches.

2000: Started every game and was named the Chiefs’ MVP. Had 78 catches for a team-record 1,391 yards and 10 TDs — all career highs. Had the highest yards-per-catch (17.8) average in the AFC.

1999: Played in all 16 games, starting 15. Had 54 catches for 832 yards and two TDs.

1998: Played in 15 games, starting 14, despite a rib injury. Still managed 992 yards receiving on 54 catches. Had four TDs and a career-best 18.4 yards per catch in his first season with Kansas City.

1997: Played in 15 games with 13 starts for Baltimore. Had a team-leading 1,009 yards on 65 catches, with nine TDs.

1996: Started 14 of the 15 games he played in the Ravens’ first season. Caught 62 passes for 1,099 yards and nine TDs.

1995: Played in 14 games with two starts but missed action with a leg injury in the Browns’ last season in Cleveland before becoming the Ravens of Baltimore. Caught 15 passes for 216 yards.

1994: Started 12 games and played in 14 in his rookie season. Caught 48 passes for 828 yards and two TDs to lead the Browns in receiving. Named All-Rookie by Football News.

College: Was an All-American as a junior at the University of Michigan, finishing his career with 120 catches for 1,909 yards and 21 touchdowns, adding another four TDs on punt returns. Ranked fourth on Michigan’s all-time reception list, fifth in receiving yards and third in TD catches.
