Biography:
Hunter Goodwin’s college experience of switching from tight end to tackle has served him well in the NFL, where the blocking skills he developed have been put to use for seven years — four with Minnesota and three with Miami.

He is back with the Vikings in 2003 and is expected to be the backup to Jim Kleinsasser, the Vikings’ primary blocking tight end.

2002: Caught only four passes for 20 yards but was a valuable swingman able to complement Jim Kleinsasser’s blocking on the other side of the line in a power running package. Made six starts and played in all 16 games.

2001: Played in every game in his last season in Miami, starting 11 and catching four passes.

2000: Started every game, catching four passes. His primary role as a blocking tight end helped lead the Dolphins to 1,894 rushing yards, the most by a Dolphins team since 1984. Also started two playoff games.

1999: In his first season in Miami, Goodwin started five games and played in 15. Had eight catches. Also played in two playoff games.

1998: Played in 15 regular-season games and caught three passes in his last season with the Vikings before becoming a restricted free agent. Started both playoff games.

1997: Caught seven passes, his career high as a Viking, while playing in all 16 regular-season games and two playoff games.

1996: As a rookie, Goodwin played in nine games and started six. Drafted in the fourth round by Minnesota.

College: Played tight end at Texas A&M-Kingsville for two years before transferring to Texas A&M, where he played tackle. He earned all-conference honors at both schools.
