Notebook: Dropped passes vex Vikings

The Vikings' first-team offense had a chance to put more points on the board, but dropped passes in each of the first two drives hurt their opportunities. Plus, reaction to Joe Webb's struggles, tackling troubles, Walsh's big day, Gerhart's hard runs, Guion's injury and more.

With much of the attention put on Christian Ponder's progress to open the preseason, it was the players he was throwing to that made a notable negative difference. Ponder had only two series of work in the Minnesota Vikings' 17-6 loss to the San Francisco 49ers and his numbers would have looked better had he been helped more by his receivers.
