MINNESOTA VIKINGS COMMENTS

Chris Berman (ESPN, 28) - AP - my new hero.

Clifton Brown (Sporting News, 28) - Happy for Adrian Peterson, and Christian Ponder is gaining confidence at quarterback.

Cris Collinsworth (NBC Sports, 20) - Amazing performance by Adrian Peterson.

Rich Gannon (CBS Sports/SiriusXM NFL Radio, 26) - AP's back, Ponder solid and how about rookie kicker Blair Walsh's performance.

Bob Glauber (Newsday, 26) - Just eight months after tearing up his knee, Adrian Peterson is back and looking like he never left. Brilliant effort in leading the overtime win over Jacksonville.

Rick Gosselin (Dallas Morning News, 21) - Adrian Peterson is officially back. Christian Ponder better start polishing up his handoffs.

Clark Judge (CBSSports.com, 20) - Christian Ponder showed me something with that frenzied fourth-quarter drive to tie the game. The Vikes have a chance for respectability if he keeps it up.

Ira Kaufman (Tampa Tribune, 27) - With Adrian Peterson back in form, Minnesota has a good chance to be 2-0 before the 49ers visit in Week 3.

Pat Kirwan (SiriusXM NFL Radio/CBSSports.com, 25) - Adrian Peterson looked like he never suffered a major knee injury last year. The club took a chance on rookie kicker Blair Walsh over Ryan Longwell and it paid off with a 55-yard field goal to put the game in overtime and a 33-yard FG to win it.

John Lynch (Fox Sports, 27) - Second worst record in the league last year and you start the season with a win and your best player, RB Adrian Peterson, looking pretty healthy and pretty good. A good sign.

Alex Marvez (Foxsports.com, 24) - Adrian Peterson's return wasn't the only feel-good story in last Sunday's 26-23 overtime victory against Jacksonville. Second-year quarterback Blaine Gabbert led the game-tying drive in the waning seconds and kicker Blair White didn't show rookie jitters while connecting on the two clutch field goals that won the contest.

Dan Pompei (Chicago Tribune, 24) - Welcome back, Adrian Peterson. The Vikings shouldn't be pushovers with him in the lineup.
