What can Jeff Locke do for the Vikings? A lot, according to his résumé.
Vikings sign 3 more, 3 first-rounders remain
Those actions leave only their first-round picks left to sign. The Vikings have three of those – defensive tackle Sharrif Floyd, cornerback Xavier Rhodes and receiver Cordarrelle Patterson. The Vikings were the only team in the league to have three first-round picks and the first team to have that many since the 2001 St. Louis Rams.
Locke is the only punter left on the Vikings roster after the team released T.J. Conley shortly after drafting Locke and then incumbent Chris Kluwe one day after the team got an extensive, first-hand look at Locke at their rookie minicamp.
Baca and Bond are both expected to compete for a rotational role on the offensive line.
All of the Vikings' draft picks signed so far have been inked to four-year contracts, per terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Their first-round selections will each get five-year deals.
Locke's contract should be worth about $2.34 million with a signing bonus of about $184,000, according to the slotted system of signing draft picks. Baca's contract should be worth about $2.25 million with a signing bonus around $94,000. Bond's deal should be worth about $2.22 million with a signing bonus of about $63,000.
On Tuesday, the Vikings signed linebackers Gerald Hodges (fourth round) and Michael Mauti (seventh round), along with defensive tackle Everett Dawkins (seventh round).
