Jasper Brinkley returns to Minnesota with a new system in place, one he thinks will suit his skills…
Vikings agree to terms with LB Brinkley
Brinkley was released by the Cardinals last week, allowing him to sign with another team before the start of free agency at 3 p.m. Central Tuesday.
Brinkley played in 15 games for the Cardinals last year, starting three and registering 27 tackles and a pass defensed. In his final season with the Vikings, he started 15 of 16 games and had 99 tackles, three passes defensed and three forced fumbles – by far his most productive season in the NFL.
Originally a fifth-round draft choice (150th overall) of the Vikings in 2009, Brinkley's 2011 season was marred by a hip injury suffered during the preseason that required surgery and led to him being placed on injured reserve before the season started.
Before that, he was mainly a special teams player that filled in for middle linebacker E.J. Henderson for four games in 2009 when Henderson was injured.
